fArt Galleries

I'm an artist. I love art. But the idea of art gallery openings is just not appealing to me anymore. I think the only good one I've been to was Murakami at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA - it was huge, tons of people showed up, the work was great.

But when I go to smaller openings, we usually show up, grab a drink, walk around and spend as much time possible over each painting before moving on, then stand around not knowing anyone. So we end up spending about half an hour there. I say there needs to be more a of a program - the artist should be present and speak, have a raffle, dancing [there are DJs but no dancing :( ], free food, etc. SOMETHING other than standing around hoping people think you look cool like them.
