What a DAY! I part of me was slightly nervous and excited about the portfolio review for now reason. I know I didn't have to prepare for anything - just sit next to Jim and throw in a few comments here and there.
We carpooled with
Tornado Design since they were invited to review and they're on the floor beneath us. Random! Bunch of cool guys though.
We arrived at a not-so-freakin-hot campus. I haven't been to the art department in AGES so it was quit exciting. We sign up, walk up to the rooms to look for where we're sitting and lo and behold I don't see my name with Jim's name at his table. I see my name at my own table!!!
WHAT?! I freaked OUT! I wasn't supposed to be a reviewer! I was just a tag-along! We ran about 5mins late and a girl was already sitting there waiting for me! So I do my best to go over her work and critique her book and presentation. Right afterwards Jim was able to give a couple words of advice and a nice "Don't worry you'll be fine!" As I went through student after student, I got a system down and felt a little more confident. Only towards the end I got really lazy w/my words and my throat was killing me.
Although I wasn't expecting to be a reviewer I'm really glad I was one. I felt like that marked my professionalism :) I hope I instilled something good in those kids (some not really kids and I'm sure were older than me). I got to see Gib (yay my twin!) and Alan (awkward and fatter-seeming) so that was fun too. I even got a SAGA shirt that fit! I definitely wouldn't mind going next year. Muahahah!
