[ a few days of listening - of watching - is the absolute limit of what Kamina will stand. people are scared, people are getting hurt, and he's not going to just stand by and let that happen, no matter how many times people tell him "That's just how it is here."
so there he is, marching out of community building seven, dressed in a
skintight black suit. like a boss. he's got the journal open in hand, because as far as he knows, that's the fastest way to get in contact with people. ]
ALL RIGHT! I've had enough of this! I know it's scary and I know everybody's tired, but we--
[ the mighty Kamina stops mid-sentence; he's out in the middle of the street and there's fog rolling in. ] We...
[ the voice is too faint for him to make out words. there's just the sound of it, the far-off familiarity of something that exists only in his memories. he hears a deep voice, wounded, and the soft jangling of beads and metal. cloth flaps slowly, joining the noise that drifts out to him from the murk. when he looks, really looks, he sees for just a second the vague, shadowy form of broad shoulders and a cape twisting in the wind.
it's gone again when he blinks. fog begins to eddy around his ankles.
Kamina is silent for several minutes, then turns and goes back inside.
---
an hour later, from the top of community building seven, a huge
blaze suddenly springs to life. it seems someone has gone up there and lit what appears to be a gigantic pile of pillows on fire - thankfully with stones and cinder blocks placed around and under it so that it doesn't, you know, burn the whole place down.
Kamina has planted himself directly in front of it, standing on the very lip of the building and holding out his journal in front of him. and yes, he's STILL in costume. ]
YOU!
YEAH, I'M TALKING TO YOU! All of you!
Are you scared and lonely? Are you seeing things that shouldn't be there? Are you afraid to go outside or stay anywhere by yourself? DO YOU LIKE BARBECUED RABBIT?
Then I've got just the campout for you! Because we're not just going to sit here and take this, right?! We're not going to sit around and wait for the boogeymen to come get us just because we're scared! We're not going to be afraid! What we're going to do is sit around this fire and talk about all the best things! We're going to tell spooky stories with happy endings! We're going to look out for each other! We're going to laugh!
And we're going to EAT. THESE. MARSHMALLOWS!
[ he holds up a bag of marshmallows...FOR VICTORY. ]
WHO'S WITH ME?!
[ who indeed?
CAMPOUT POST (yes on a roof) UP IN THIS BITCH. bring sleeping bags, tents (or stuff to build your own shelters with), food, your friends, and threadhop at your leisure! IT'S LIKE WOODSTOCK, ONLY WITH MORE SNACKS. And bathrooms.
