Okay I just got back from Serenity (+ dinner, + shopping, + my friend's) and....

:: deep breath ::
That? Was pretty damn cool. I mean, I just... wow, I can't believe it's FINALLY here and that I FINALLY saw it, you know?
Anyway, I'll make a separate post for my spoilery thoughts later but I wanted to share a few general notes first.
- I went to the 6:50 showing and the theatre was about 75% full I'd say (working out to approx. 75 people actually) which, hey, I was pleased with. Though how weird it was going in and not really having any idea what to expect in that regard. I mean, obviously there's a TON of hype around LJ here where it seems everyone and their mother was going but I really tried to keep that in perspective and not to use it as a reading for the general population. In fact, I honestly considered that there might be no more than fifteen people there INCLUDING my party of five. Whew, sooo glad that wasn't the case! =P
- As for the people themselves, I think most were in their teens/early twenties but there were also at least six families, 3-4 couples over 50, and several older (30-50-ish?) men. The majority of course seemed to be fans of the show but, surprisingly, I'm pretty confident there were quite a few complete newbies as well. The two families sitting close to my group were anyway and (with the exception of one of the moms) all left the theatre raving about it.
- Response wise it was a GREAT audience. People laughed hysterically, "Aww!"d, "Yikes!"d, "Nooooo!!"d, cheered, audibly cried, and made a ton of little comments throughout the film (which I'll go into detail about in my spoiler post) but not in an obnoxous/annoying way (at least I didn't mind) and at the end everyone actually CLAPPED. I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen that happen before! *sigh* I absolutely loved it.
- Also, a HUGE chunk of us stayed behind while the credits rolled. All of us I'm sure thinking the same thing... that Joss would have some kind of messege or surprise or something during them or at the end. Heh, he didn't =P. I felt like a bit of a dork (er, an even bigger one than I already am ;)) but, c'mon, that's totally something Joss would do! Aw well, I would have felt worse had I left and there HAD been something.
*yawn* I guess my specific thoughts on it will have to wait 'til tomorrow cause I am BEAT. I think I'll go curl up in bed with my planner and, before shutting off the light, pour over my schedule to see when I can fit in a second viewing! ^_^
