I feel like a kid. LOL!
I need to tell you all about yesterday. It was a rough day & I couldn't get myself to talk about it much.
To begin with, let me say Bug & I have tried to catch a bird a few times (wow--it has been 2 weeks today). He has been a runner---no flight for some reason, even though his wings, tail, etc., all look fine.
Last night, in an unplanned effort to escape Maddie, the bird darted into Bug's playhouse. ha! caught... I climbed into the tiny playhouse (yep, I did. heh) & nabbed him. It wasn't long before he was lying on his side & I gave Bug the bad news.
We made the bird a soft spot in a small box and I started giving it water with a dropper. Bug got so excited when it started drinking. I started to regain a little hope, so I soaked a piece of bread with the dropper & stuck the bread up to it's beak. No go.
We agreed just to make him comfortable & truthfully, I thought it would be less than an hour for the little guy.
Last night I looked in on him before bed & he was standing! I couldn't believe it.
I filled a toy saucer (since I plan to either throw away or save for only future bird use) with a bit of water & put some seed in the box. Just in case.
This morning, I heard him wake up & starting moving around. He was even cracking & eating some seeds.
I still am a bit cynical about his [complete] recovery, but, eh, who knows? Bug & I are going to take him to the zoo this morning before art class. (He has art on Wed. mornings through the homeschool loop.) I hope they will take him. If not, what should I do? I don't want to let him go here, & I'm really not up to keeping him right now. Bug & I have so much going on, plus I don't think R is overly excited about the houseguest.
If I release him to the yard here, he will unfortunately fall prey to Maddie who thinks it is a toy.
Maybe a park? Even though winter is nearly here? There aren't many cats in this town. And dogs don't go to city parks. They go to the big boy country parks. LOL
