the news online atm is talking about the possibility of printing more money to deal with the recession. now, my questions on this are:

Is this literal? as in print more paper money, in which case isnt that pointless given the relatively digital nature of savings? if it's figurative how does this "extra money" get distributed?

secondly, how the hell is printing more money going to help a recession? the only things i've ever heard about printing extra money is in relation to a dramatic reduction in currency value. that's hardly beneficial!
