fucking trains

saver return tickets are no longer valid for Kings Cross to Cambridge trains between 4:30pm and 7pm as of 11th June (warning: PDF file!)

This means that if I was to take the train home and be forced to go back to Cambridge during this time, it would cost me £44.90 return instead of £25.70 as it does now (according to Natrional Rail website) What are they going to do next, stop accepting Young Person railcards?

I fucking hate the trains! What is the point of encouraging people to use public transport when it's cheaper, quicker and easier to drive? (Train journey = 3-4Hrs through London and Tube, Car journey = 2hrs max via M3, M25, M11) Even with rush hour traffic on M25 it's still quicker to drive

I'm annoyed by that. Especially their reason for upping the price: "First Capital Connect, along with GNER and Midland Mainline, have introduced these changes to proactively manage the supply and demand for the popular evening peak services. By giving priority to Season Ticket holders and customers who have purchased full fare Standard Day and Open return tickets, we anticipate that passenger numbers will be reduced"

This is exactly the same as airline companies saying "to make our flights more comfortable and offer our customers more leg room, we will be removing seats from the coach section of the plane in order to expand the business class section"

Sure, the trains that run London to Cambridge at these times are rediculously packed, but the solution is not to raise the ticket costs, that just leaves you with a packed train of unhappy, wallet stung people which is not going to help things. Discouraging people from travelling at peak time is a good idea in theory, but the problem is most people KNOW it's bad to travel at peak time, they do it cos they have to. In my case I've had to travel at peak time cos I couldn't leave earlier and had to be at the destination by a time that was itself still within peak time!
