The Subject Was Chilis

[ There have been better Saturday mornings, even in Mayfield. ]

[ Ilsa reacted to the events in an established pattern, for her - cooking. ]

[ After an early-morning run to the store, when there were only the drones to deal with at the general store, she's been in the kitchen most of the day making comfort food. Lots of it. With varying degrees ( Read more... )

[Someone was dragged/persuaded to come her by her stupid fake!husband. GLaDOS has been in a dark mood ever since Chell left and Halloween's chaos didn't help much.

Dare you approach the woman who is glaring at a piece of cake in her hand as though it had personally insulted her intelligence?]

[ Ilsa has been living dangerously today, why stop now? ]

Not your favorite recipe?

[She didn't hear her walk over so she glances up a little startled. Then frowns. More at being startled then anything else.]

Hardly.

Can I help you with something?

Just wondering when you were going to set it on fire with your glare.

[ Ilsa shrugs. ]

It might work, considering there is rum in the glaze.

If my glare could set things on fire. Half of the people in this town would be dead by now.

Multiple times over? I've had a day or two like that here.

[ Ilsa's trying to remember if she's been introduced to the woman who seems to be... different to her senses. ]

It's always a day like that here. Useless, boring and a complete waste of my time.

So, what do you do to fill the time?

Any leads on the nature of this place in your field of study?

I mostly work with physics and testing things. However I happen to also be an expert when it comes to AI and computer programming.

I wouldn't be surprised if we were in a simulation of some sort. It would explain the bodies, death. Random impossible events.

It would explain a lot here. Have you caught any edges? Anything that could lead to getting to the interface?

At the moment no.

Or how they connected so many people to one simulation. There's still the whole "other worlds" people were taken from as well. Somehow they managed that.

I haven't had any luck with the tools I have, either. yet.

[ She gives a small nod. ]

Still working on it, as things come back to me. Though I am looking for the possibility of pulling people through to other places than where they started, if they need a different escape route.

Escaping to other peoples worlds you mean?

If needed, and if they have a sponsor, I think. Not everyone has a better life waiting for them.
