Um...

In the living world, they have microwaves, rice cookers, and TV.

Living world? As opposed to.... a not-living world? This sounds interesting.

Are those the things you make food in?

Is it?
Yes, the living world is where... you know, where humans live and everything. Shinigami also go there sometimes on assignment. I've been a couple of times, and I really like it. Where I live normally is Soul Society-- it's the afterlife.

Yes. You put food inside, and it spins around and heats up really fast. They're very convenient.

Yeah! I don't think we have anything like that-- unless we're talkin' Heaven, but that's not even confirmed to exist.

Shinigami, huh? Japanese death gods? Soul Society sounds structured-- is it some sorta court or somethin'?

Hahaha! That sounds like it'd be fun 'ta see. Is the food cooked all the way through?

Yes, kind of! Well, the central part is called the Pure Souls Court, where all the nobility live. ... Although, technically, they don't live there, since it's the afterlife...
There's less structure outside of the Court. Most people end up there.

It is! I don't know how they get it to spin.
Yes...
Well, it depends. You have to make sure you heat it long enough at the proper setting. It's not something you can master all at once.

Is it even big enough for everyone in the world?

Maybe it's got gears! Like in clocks an' stuff.

It sounds complicated. I wonder if they have manuals.

there, there. I forgive you. :> small_comfort August 26 2008, 14:04:44 UTC
Um...
Yes?
There's a flow of souls in both directions, and shinigami work hard to maintain the balance. So it's not as though it's continually filling up as people in the living world keep dying.
...Also, Soul Society is very big.

I wonder...
If the one at home does, we might have lost it. Maybe Unohana-taichou knows where it is.

Are they reborn or somethin'?

Haha, I think I'll just stick 'ta cooking things regularly.

Yes, they are. Even in Soul Society, people will eventually die... that is, their physical body is what actually died when they stopped being "alive" in the living world. But eventually, their soul will die, too. When that happens, their soul dissolves back into spirit particles. And spirit particles are the material that becomes new souls to be born in the living world. So it isn't generally something like a direct reincarnation, but there is a cycle of rebirth.

But using the microwave is fun!

I guess that'd make more sense, then. There's always been stories about how heaven eventually will fill up and stuff, to scare kids into being good, hahaha. But if there's a cycle, I guess it'd make things more efficient.

But I wouldn't wanna make everyone sick until I learn how 'ta use it..

Oh, no! That'd be horrible if it got full!

Well, you don't have to make everyone eat the whole thing if you mess up a few things...
