Sample Post: Bits of grain and marshmallow swirled around in an increasingly colorful bowl-full of milk as Noah Bennet stared at the sketch of the compass on his table. Not even the brutal stabbing that occurred on the steps could sway him to forget about the strange object Emile Danko apparently died for. Why did it only work when held in the palm of Peter's hand? Of course, his mind was teeming with possibilities but Noah wasn't the type to dwell on those in favor of solid answers. The spoon's handle rested against the side of the bowl as he placed his fingertip straight down onto the center of the compass drawing. With a twist of his wrist, he moved it back and forth continually watching as it spun a full circle with each lift, press, and twirl of his finger. The one he'd held was completely dead in his hands, but as he watched it spin in Peter's palm--all he could wonder was where it lead to when it finally stopped again.

Peter tried to encourage him to stop chasing down the ghosts of his former life by just leaving it alone. But that just wasn't in Bennet's nature to do. It would be easy for so many to just accept their 'early retirement', and take up a hobby--fishing perhaps. They didn't know what was happening to humanity, or how out of hand it could get if it was not constantly being contained. People who knew simply had to accept the fact that their lives would be devoted to the cause and nothing else. No matter how their personal relationships were strained, like that of he and his daughter, Claire. Or simply broken entirely as the finalized divorce papers nestled into a manila folder on his counter-top confirmed with every glance upon them. The more he thought about it, the more Noah became certain that just because the building had burned into ash--the ideals never fade away. But this time, things were going to be different. He was going to help people, and he only now had the capability to do so with no real authoritative presence to keep him trapped in an endless cycle of regulations. Now if only he could stop spinning the compass on the table and figure out what his real next move was going to be. Or eat his cereal before it became an inedible mess.
