Bitch Session

I was forced to go up north with my parents over labor day weekend. Friday morning, I woke up at 6 am. Drove 200 miles. Helped my dad put the sailboat into a dammed up river in 40 mph winds. The mast would not go up. The engine would not start. All was shit. Dad got pissed, then got pissed at me, even though I resolved not to ruin the weekend for them and my brother just because of my forced participation. After 3 hours, we finally got to the WRONG campsite on the rivers bank, because my dad made the wrong reservations. We finally made it to the correct campsite after another hour. At our campsite, I was forced to set up all our tents, since my parents apparently enjoyed the power they had over me, knowing that I resolved not to complain. Later at night, it was aroud 35 degrees fahrenheit and this trend continued every night, with temps up to the 80s during the day. Wind continued every day. Anyways, my 1-inch-thick mattress leaked air every night, so I woke up early, sore, and stiff. And I got a cold. Got yelled at by my parents for unknown reasons, usually over tiny things like answering questions quietly. There were no outhouses. I shat in the woods and wiped with leaves. I froze every night and got sicker. My parents' polish family friends came, and they joined my parents in drunken stupor every single night. It was embarassing. And scary. Then, I got yelled at for asking when we were leaving the campsite on monday. I realized just how much skin can peel on my face from sunburn. Tuesday morning, I got yelled at by my dad ("You care about nobody but yourself!!!!")for taking a 5-minute shower rather than a 3-minute one. In freezing water, no less--my dad "forgot" to turn on the warm water after we returned from the weekend, but then remembered to turn it on and wait for 20 minutes for the boiler to fill after I got out of the shower--the cold water had made me even sicker, too. When I turned on the car that morning to go to school, I realized that i had almost no gas. Was late to choir and setup day because I had to fill up on the way to school. And yes. That was my labor day weekend. I have never had a worse time camping. I used to love it.
end... finally.
