I watched/listened to the Inaugural events of the day on the AP web stream. Over and over I heard that it was doubted that President Obama would be able to deliver a speech with the carry over and quotable impact as great as Kennedy's "Ask not what your country.." and other similarly great and quotable inauguration speeches.
Not that I am saying these speeches aren't timeless and great, I must say that the following portion of Obama's speech, resounded greatly with me:
"Let it be said by our children’s children that when we were tested we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back nor did we falter; and with eyes fixed on the horizon and God’s grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations."
Just a thought. While I hope that the next four years delivers all of the promises set forth on the campaign trail, I am not sure that its achievable. Though I am confident, that if our country once again gains its footing and stands forth as one of the leaders of freedom and just values, it will be under the leadership of this man, or through policy that he sets in motion.
I'm climbing off my soap box now.
