This morning I was reading over my blogs on myspace and remembered this one rant about homosexuality that I wrote for creative writing club first semester this school year and decided I'd share it with the... um... masses (?) if you call the like ten people that read my LJ masses... And for those who have read/heard this before, I did alter it slightly.
"A Closed Minded Perspective on a Closed Minded World"
You say "FAGGOT!" as though I've never heard it before.
You say things like "disgusting," as if you have lived the lifestyle.
Well, I must say in response, that I HAVE heard my label time and time again and I AM living the lifestyle.
But do you see me walking up to you while your face is practically meshed with her's and say "disgusting?"
NO, and why is that?
Maybe it's because I'm not a narcissistic, pretentious ass, like you.
Another thing you will never see me do is walk up to my boyfriend and have a clothed sex-a-thon in public.
Again, some may ask, "why not Michael?"
And again I must answer "Perhaps it's because I, unlike you, understand that sexual expression of affection is NOT something the general public likes to see."
Don't try to place steriotypes on me either; I don't run around with my forearm up and my wrist tilted putting on mascara and lipgloss, so don't call me a queen, refer to me as "girlfriend," and never call me a fairy.
I don't go out to clubs every other night to find a new sex partner who I'll leave before the next day, so don't call me a slut.
In fact, up until I was almost 18, I was a virgin, so screw that line of thinking. Just because I'm gay doesn't mean I lack morals, in fact I probably have more than you.
You say "gay," and "straight," as though they are tangible, physical objects. Your closed mind has even brainwashed all of our society into using these words as varnacular.
How would you like it if I saw something I didn't like and called it "straight," with a disgusted tone?
You see, the knowledge you lack is that love is love no matter whether it is between two men, a woman and a man, or two women.
You have 45% of the planet to choose from, while I have a mere 5% so why should YOU be the one complaining about ME. With your excess freedom to choose partners, you have no room to complain.
You feel you are superior just because you are the majority... Hmm, but come to think of it, without "gays," this world would lack many great writers, philosophers, artists, governmental leaders, the Systine Chapel would never have been painted... Hell, there would be no such thing as the Trojan army... What would your favorite brand of condoms be called without the likes of me?
One last thing I have come to realize is that the reason your narrow minds think alike is because you have given yourselves no other option.
So go on, live your lives as the saying goes, on the "straight and narrow."
