Fixed This Blinkin' Thing...

I finally got around to fixing my broken journal theme. <.<;; Sorry if anyone noticed (I liked my Sai layout by coloured_ink, but it stopped working when LJ changed something. Yeah, can you tell I know very little about programming and coding?) Swapped out icons... lemme know what you think of the new layout and if it shows up correctly for you.

Good Things In Life:
1.) The new Star Trek movie. Most of you have probably already seen it, but if not, I recommend it. I'm a long time Trekkie fan (I followed all the series except for Voyager and Enterprise), and I even took two ST classes in college (lulz big nerd). I found the movie to be a fresh take on the franchise. Spock also owns your soul.

2.) Adam Lambert. I've never been particularly invested in American Idol until this guy. He can sing *and* he's a class act. Every interview with him reveals how intelligent, funny, and kind he is. Did I mention that he is also a Glittery Alien from the Planet Fierce? I was disappointed when Kris won (just not my style of music, and Adam is technically the more talented singer) but Kris' utter humility and sweetness took the edge off. Also, apparently Adam and Kris are BFFs. http://buffyx.livejournal.com/477286.html <---interesting and funny read (although I'm not a "Kradam" fan). I need to download Adam's iTunes album... can I share my iTunes with my mom, btw?

3.) Tokyo Marathon. I think I mentioned this before. harumi and her friend met me at the finish line, and later I had lunch with them and takadainmate and cienna. I finally saw my official results a little before leaving Japan. I placed in the top 100 for the Women's 10K (there were, according to the Official Guide, about 4200 runners in that category, so not too bad for my first race!). I think I'll have to try racing here in the States to keep myself motivated.

4.) Gym. It's good to get out of the house sometimes and exercise. Talked my mom into joining too, and it's been great for her energy and self-esteem, I think.

5.) Blind Go, Round 007.
I haven't gotten around to reading all the entries yet, but I was really impressed by these three.
An Approach To Tsumego by trixie_chick. It's a two-parter and oh so beautifully and imaginatively written, a look at Sai during his natural life. I read it 'cause I'm a huge Sai-fan, and have interest in the Heian era, but the original characters are a joy to read as well.

ten, chi, jin. Also by trixie_chick. An interesting, bittersweet take on Hikaru's mother, Mitsuko.

In Through The Ages by harumi. I remember when harumi described her idea for this story, and I remarked that it was quite ambitious. But she definitely pulls it off. Hikaru and Akira chase each other throughout history, basically. It's fun to see how the characters are affected by their times, yet retain their essential souls. And of course, there's also "Spot the Ogata" fun. ^^
