Oh that was so cute! I really enjoyed that, although, I feel bad for young Arthur. It also makes me glad I still wish on stars despite being grown up.

I'm glad you liked it. I felt so bad for young Arthur as I wrote it. But it's okay because he has Merlin now. I hope you'll never stop wishing on stars. :D

That fits so perfectly. I think it shall be my headcanon from now on =) I really like how Giaus did his best to make sure Arthur didn't believe all magic was bad, like he knew Uther was going to try and brain wash him to believe.
Though I was thinking, why doesn't Arthur make good friends with one of his knights? Like Leon?
Anyway, this way Arthur still has hope that magic is inherently evil xD
Maybe an idea for a sequel: Arthur telling Merlin about his wishing for a friend as a kid *goes to wish on star that you write a sequel*

I'm so glad you enjoyed this so much. It's a bit headcanon for me, to be honest.
And Arthur isn't friends with a knight or squire because of reasons? I don't know.
Oh! "You can't be friends with your knights, my son," Uther said in a commanding voice, "because one day they will go into battle with you and you must make the choice as to where they fight as a king, not as a friend." Or something to that extent?
That is a decent idear for a sequel, based off that it would be a bit angst and Merlin would be all guilty feeling because he had a friend (Will, of course) -- one he could even confide in.
WAIT. NO. YES. I KNOW. ARTHUR SEES MERLIN DO MAGIC AND ARTHUR IS ALL "I KNEW IT. I KNEW YOU WOULD HAVE MAGIC BECAUSE THE YOU IN MY HEAD HAD MAGIC." AND THEN MERLIN IS ALL CONFUSED AND ARTHUR EXPLAINS AND THEN ANGST AND GUILT AND KISSES.
What say you? *it may never get written then again I may write it tomorrow who knows*

*squees* Yes, Uther's reasoning is reasonable/understandable.

Hmmm, I didn't think about Merlin having Will and the potential for angst... but your idea of the magic reveal is totally wicked/awesome and I love it and you should write it asap!
If you'd like me to bug you to write it, I'd be more than happy to :P

Pleased you agree with Uther.

Well, Merlin is thinking that growing up, he at least had Will whilst Arthur had no one. So he feels guilty that he had a friend when Arthur did not, and guilty that even though Arthur was wishing for him, he couldn't be there for Arthur at that time. Does that make sense?
It'd probably get written sooner if you bug me to write it. Haha.

Indeed, it's tragic that wee Arthur had no friends. Luckily his wish came true! :D

This was lovely and I've always thought that Arthur had a rather lonely childhood.

Great work.
