If you walk along Maxwell Road now you'll see beautiful carpets of yellow flowers on the floor. And if you are early enough, I'm sure you'll get to smell the sweet scent of the Angsana tree flowers too -- gets stale when it gets hot. Huge pity they don't plant Angsana trees anymore (and Rain trees as well). I know the branches are brittle and it is a huge mess when they flower but they are so beautiful and charming.
I remember walking to my primary school in Sembawang when I was young and this row of ancient Angsana trees will offer the biggest bouquet of their yellow flowers. It's as if they were raining yellow snow flakes, dusting, coating and greeting everyone that walked by with a mild sweet scent. :o)
I'm such a kampong boy. I miss those simple moments.
