The Count
“Must you leave us?” his brides entreated him; their lithe bodies writhing upon the bed; their ethereal beauty pale as the Winter moon.
“I must go,” he told them; his voice intoxicating; it sent shivers down their undead flesh.
The brides of Dracula licked their lips.
“Join us Milord for one more night of ecstasy before you leave,”
They moaned and outstretched their arms as they rolled upon the silken sheets. The Prince of Darkness smiled wickedly and licked his lips.
“Why not?”
His brides watched with lust in their eyes as he joined them on the bed; clothes discarded; arms and legs entwined in a lustful dance as Dracula and his brides made passionate love.
The Werewolf
The delightful ocean breeze cooled his heated skin. Song Joongki was glad to be done with the unbearable humidity of the jungle. The zombies had guided him from the wild to more civilized places; there he then gained passage to Algiers and then to Marseille. The witch doctor had been right; the magic was strong; no one questioned the fine young gentleman and his two man servants. No one had an inkling of who they really were; a werewolf and his zombie body guards.
In Marseille, he was greeted by a porter who had been instructed to wait for his arrival. Joong Ki turned to his zombies and motioned them to follow the porter who lead them through the streets of the city.
He found himself set up in the best hotel with a fine new set of clothes, thanks to his benefactor, the mysterious Dr. Shim. The werewolf couldn’t wait to meet the brilliant surgeon and scientist; he heard that he could perform miracles. He also heard he was insane.
“The perfect man for the job,” he told himself.
He set out his things in his suite; the zombies standing guard at the door. Joong Ki still hadn’t gotten used to their presence.
As he undressed himself, he turned to his undead companions and barked an order.
“Can you not look at me, please; turn around. You guys are giving me the creeps.”
The zombies did his bidding and faced the wall.
“I’ll never get used to that.”
The werewolf left the bedroom for the bathroom. As he sank into the tub, he closed his eyes and sighed.
“Soon,” he told himself; soon.”
The villainous five
“We’ve received a new dispatch,” T.O.P. advised his fellow conspirators.
He opened it and read outloud.
“Joong Ki has arrived in Marseille along with his two bodyguards.”
The Invisible Man looked up from the letter and gazed at the others. Kiseop swore he could see the other man’s eyebrow raise through his bandages.
“What does a werewolf need with bodyguards?” the Hunchback asked.
Hyde shrugged his shoulders.
“Well go on,” the Phantom urged the Invisible Man. He and the thief had become quite close since they met in Paris.
“We are to pick him up in Marseille along with the body guards and then head to Budapest where the Count and his gypsies will join us.”
T.O.P. folded up the letter and looked at the other men. They stood nervously in silence. The thought of a having to bring a werewolf and a vampire on board was making them nervous. Even the immortal Dorian Gray couldn’t fend off a Lycanthrope or the undead. He was human like the rest and could very easily be turned.
They all agreed that there was safety in numbers; they sat down to dinner and began to make plans incase either creature lost control and decided to run amuck on board the train.
The Mad Doctor
“Well Yunho, everything is going according to my plan. Soon all our friends will join us.”
Yunho furrowed his brow.
“Your friends,” he spoke with eloquence despite being Changmin’s creation.
The Doctor’s so called Monster had turned out better than expected.
“You promised to make me a friend. Where’s my friend? Where’s my bride?”
Yunho asserted himself by entering Dr. Shim’s personal space.
“Now, now, calm down; your friend is in the lab ready to be awakened.”
Yunho pouted.
“Yes, but it’s a man; I thought you were going to create a woman for me.”
Changmin chuckled.
“Wait until you see him. He’s the most beautiful man in the world.”
Yunho followed the Doctor to the lab. Lightning crackled above and he flinched. He hated the lightning even though he knew it was the power that brought him to life; the spark which awakened his silent heart. Yunho was no slow, dim witted creature. The scientist who created the original Monster was long gone; Changmin had taken up the mantle and perfected the process. He was the new creator of life; he was the worthy successor of the name, Frankenstein.
The conditions were right; the storm reached it’s zenith. Changmin turned on the machine and raised the platform; the bandaged body of his newest creation rising into the black. Yunho shielded his eyes as the storm raged and the lightning crackled. Science and nature combined in a terrible burst; the bandaged body glowing as the magic took place. Yunho helped Changmin with the chains and together they lowered the platform down to the safety of the lab where they waited in silence for Frankenstein’s newest creation to awaken.
A moan came from behind the bandages.
“He’s alive,” the mad doctor spoke. “He’s alive.”
Changmin gently cut away the bandages to reveal his creations beautiful face.
Yunho’s heart skipped a beat.
“What’s his name?” the Monster asked.
“Jaejoong,” Changmin answered. He looked at Yunho and smiled.
“Jaejoong,” the Monster whispered; Jaejoong, my friend.”
The Melancholy Mummy
“Excuse us, your worship,” Jaehyo said while bowing to the Egyptian Prince.
Yoochun turned to face the young men who had been picked to serve him in his new life. The Mummy strode with elegance; naked from the waist up, his lower body was covered by a shendyt; a simple skirt-like garment which Professor Han Geng had commissioned for him. Jaehyo handed him a plate of delicious food. The Prince bowed to the young man and flashed a smile.
The Blockbuster boys catered to the Prince’s every whim; they fed him and clothed him; gave him reconstructed items that a regal Prince would have owned as his own were considered treasures and needed to be preserved. Jewels, goblets of wine, papyrus for writing and even a game of senet, which the prince was more than happy to teach to his new servants.
Professor Han Geng sat daily with the Prince discussing life in Ancient Egypt and documenting every word. Slowly, he began to educate the Prince about the modern world. The Prince enjoyed these discourses and other pleasures, but it was evident to all that he suffered from melancholy.
“Look at him,” U-Kwon said to Taeil. “He looks sad; like a part of him was missing.”
B-Bomb cringed as Pyo tried to tune an ancient lyre in the corner.
“You’d be sad if everyone you knew was dead too,” Kyung whispered in U-Kwon’s ear.
Zico moaned.
“Alright guys, I think the Prince has had enough of our chattering for one night. Good night your Highness; we’ll be right upstairs in the antechamber if you need anything.”
They paid their respects to the Prince who acknowledged them with a slight nod of his head. As they left his sight he put the plate down and sighed deeply.
“If I need something,” he whispered under his breath. “What I need, no man can give.”
A voice from the shadows startled the Prince. It was Reverend Choi.
“I am glad to see you Hem netjer. Your presence honors me. You should visit more often.”
The Reverend and the Prince had cast away their differences. They would sit for hours and discuss theology; sometimes the arguments would become heated; the two men often walking away in a huff. But they would always make up and start again. Much to their surprise, they had become friends.
“What is it that you desire, Prince?”
The Mummy bit his lower lip. Choi could see he was tearing up.
“I desire true love,” Yoochun exclaimed. He swallowed hard and wiped his tears. “I had it once, but it was forbidden.”
The Reverend nodded his head. Geng had told him the story; the Prince had a lover; a creature who was half man, half fish; a water sprite who lived in the Nile. The Prince’s death was shrouded in mystery. They said madness drove him to commit suicide; his body found washed up on the shore. But Geng didn’t believe it. The professor thought the Prince was murdered, but the memory was suppressed. Someone wanted him out of the way and had him done to death.
“All men desire to be loved; it’s in our nature. You will learn to love again.”
The Prince smiled.
“I thank you for that. Until then, my heart is empty.”
The Reverend said his goodbyes; he left the Prince to brood in peace. Yoochun started to head to bed when the calm waters of the lagoon began to bubble. Alarmed, he grabbed a spear from the wall. It was only ceremonial, but it was the closest thing to a weapon he could find.
The water churned faster and sprayed upward as a creature appeared before the Prince; gills and scales covered his toned body. But the creature changed before his eyes; scales, gills and tail transformed as the animal became man; it’s jovial face smiling as it walked on two legs and approached the land.
The Prince dropped his spear and breathed the name of his true love.
“Junsu…”
