Summary: Three unnatural creatures find solace in each other’s company;
As night falls, Jaejoong negotiates with Kwon Ji Yong and his band of thieves; Junsu is re-united with a long, lost friend;and the gypsy woman waits for Yoochun to wake up from his fevered dreams.
“Protection?” the thief known as G Dragon asked the genie. “Why would a genie ask for protection?”
Jaejoong smiled as he sat among the foot pads who eyed him with caution.
“I don’t need protection, but my friend does. He’s wanted you see, and even though he thinks he is capable of taking care of himself, I would feel better if he were watched; watched by someone whose skills were unmatched.”
G Dragon smiled.
“You hear that boys? A genie thinks our skills are unmatched.”
A handsome, well dressed thief with a deep voice spoke up.
“What’s in it for us?”
The golden haired djinn stood up and tossed another pouch laden with gold to him.
“My dear T.O.P., you and your gang of miscreants can retire from your life of thievery after this job.”
T.O.P. lit a cigar while his companion Taeyang poured drinks for the rest of the gang. He handed a snifter of brandy to Jaejoong.
“Who is this friend that needs protection?”
The genie smiled as he sipped his drink.
“His name is Yoochun.”
Daesung coughed and Seungri spit out his brandy.
“Nosferatu?”
The thieves stared at their leader. They all knew about the hunt for vampire; his enemies were everywhere. Their little band had their pulse on the city; every unnatural creature was seeking to bring the rogue back to his masters. But the thieves had stayed out of it; they were clever, you see; clever and stealthy. Everyone knew what they were, but no one had ever dared to contact them before. They were hard to find. The genie had been the first to approach them openly and without fear. They were impressed with his bravado; impressed, and, to be quite honest, afraid.
The genie must have great power to have uncovered their secret, that they were demons, and they were dangerous, but apparently not as dangerous as the mystical djinn that appeared before them.
“Well gentlemen, I must be off. I hope we are in agreement?”
The demons looked at their leader for support.
G Dragon nodded his head.
“Then it’s settled,” Jaejoong told them. “I can’t reveal the whereabouts of our lair, but I’ll send a courier to you to let you know when Yoochun goes out to feed. Just be discreet, gentleman, that’s all I ask.”
“What if your friend gets into trouble?” Daesung asked.
The djinn grinned wickedly.
“Then I would hope you would come to his aid. After all, you boys look like you’ve been itching for a fight.”
The demons smiled and licked their lips. As the genie left their hideout, G Dragon whispered to his companions.
“Boys, this is going to be so much fun.”
As the sun began to set; Noelle nervously paced the floor. She waited for Jaejoong and Junsu to return home. She knew the genie could take care of himself, but the gargoyle was another story. She just knew that he was getting himself into trouble.
A noise from Yoochun’s room alerted her. She ran, despite her condition, to his side. The fragile nosferatu still tossing and turning in his sleep. Soon he would awaken from his tortured dreams; dreams that troubled him even in his waking moments. The gypsy woman pressed her lips to his fevered brow and he moaned. A name escaped his lips; a name that the gypsy woman had heard before; a name that troubled her more than anything...
“Sidree,” the vampire groaned as he spilled deep inside the fairy girl; his body transforming once more into it’s original form. Sidree collapsed on top of him; breathless she clung to the vampire, her body shivering. The nosferatu dared to reach out and touch the spikes which ran the length of her spine.
“Don’t,” she told him as she stood up; her tiny hands reaching behind her back.
The vampire gasped as Sidree began to pull the spikes out from her spine one by one The fairy cried out in pain as blood spurted from the wounds and trickled down her back. Her knees buckled and she pitched forward, Yoochun catching her before she hit the floor. He cradled the girl in his arms; her face buried in his neck as her body was wracked with sobs.
“I did not lie to you that day in the forest when I told you that an animal had wounded me,” she whispered.
“I am that animal, Yoochun. I pulled the spikes from my body. I had hoped they would not grow back, but like my wings, they are a part of me now, and they spring forth whenever my beastly nature overtakes me. I have become a monster just like you, and there’s no going back.”
The vampire cried with the girl; two lost souls who were united in their pain.
“I will take care of you,” he promised her, as they held each other in the dark.
“No one will ever hurt you again.”
He tended to her wounds and covered her with soft furs; he watched through tearful eyes as she slowly drifted off to sleep. Standing at the cave entrance, he stared out at the full moon; his body shivering as heard the lonely howl of a wolf off in a distance; a wolf who made a similar vow to his own lover; that no harm would ever come to him again, and that vengeance, swift and final would come to his enemies...
The door burst open, waking the vampire from his sleep.
“Honey I’m home,” the golden haired djinn shouted out.
“I’ve always wanted to say that.”
Noelle helped a startled Yoochun to his feet.
“Do you mind telling me what this is all about; and why the hell are you so cheery?”
The djinn was all smiles.
“Look who I ran into on my way home.”
Kali trotted into the lair followed by Junsu. The vampire’s eyes narrowed as he realized the genie let the gargoyle go off on his own adventure. Just as Yoochun was about to scold the pair, another figure appeared from the shadows. He wore a wide brimmed hat and a full length cloak. With the door closed behind them, the stranger removed the garments to reveal himself.
Noelle gasped, as she was confronted with another gargoyle; a beautiful, slender youth; horns peeking out from neatly cropped, dark hair, wings unfolding majestically before them.
“Your maker was right, Yoochun,” Junsu told his lover; “my kind have only been sleeping.”
The dark haired youth bowed deeply to the vampire.
“It is an honor to meet you sir, Junsu has told me so much about you. My name is Eunhyuk.”
