Character Name: Allen Walker
Canon Link:
WikipediaPoint in Canon: Right after the fight between Jasdebi and Krory.
Personality:
Idealist is the perfect way to describe Allen in one word. It’s not that he’s afraid of using violence, it’s that he thinks that the way a war can be won is by saving as many people as possible and redeeming as many Akuma as he can find. His Innocence is a sign of this, which grows stronger when he wants to save someone, even if it is a Noah, his sworn enemies. Where Kanda wouldn’t bat an eye at an Akuma self-destructing, Allen goes into depression over it, because when an Akuma self-destructs, the Akuma loses its soul and is stopped from finding forgiveness and peace. He doesn’t see the world in black and white like other exorcists have a tendency to do, but wants to see the good in everybody.
The second thing noticeable about Allen that he can come across as very fake. He’s always smiling to keep people from worrying about him, even when he’s suffering. When he lost his Innocence, it was like the world had collapsed for him, because he couldn’t imagine a world in which he couldn’t fight for the path he had placed himself on. And when he basically decides he’s a human weapon and screw a place called home, he smiles at Fou when she says that most people would think it’s stupid to decide to live for Akuma. He doesn’t think it’s foolish, he’s happy he’s on the right path again, on the path his Innocence agrees with.
Allen basically has two persona; the person he shows to the outside world, who is just a cute, dorky boy who gets lost easily and has a huge appetite. He likes making awful jokes (look Rinali, I’m a clock-man! Are there pandas in Edo, Rabi?) and boasts about his drawing skills and good luck… when they are obviously both pathetic. He’s easily frazzled by things, even the things he’s strong enough to stop, like a vampire… or something like a vampire. He can also be downright bratty, just like any ordinary fifteen-year old, which usually shows itself whenever he is placed close to Kanda.
He keeps the issues troubling him to himself, even when prodded by people genuinely concerned like Rinali. He has nightmares over Cross, and when he’s not having nightmares, he, and I quote,
"It acts as though it doesn't want me to sleep... and urges me to go after the Akuma. The screams of a million souls that I shouldn't be able to hear... make their way towards my left eye and crawl around inside my body."
Apparently, this is not something that just recently developed, but is a regular occurrence for Allen. Despite it all, he keeps his head up high, because after all, to Allen, everyone’s life is more important than his own. Even that of his enemies.
He does this for two reasons. He doesn’t like attention brought to him, because he gets flustered easily and doesn’t really know how to act around ‘normal’ people, since he was basically brought up by… Cross. He quickly adjusts to people though, but around strangers he’s overly polite and tries very hard to appear like an average 15-year old kid. If 15-year old kids were ever overly polite, that is.
The other reason being that he just hates people troubling themselves over him. Absolutely hates it. When Rinali stops Allen from going head-first at a self-destructing Akuma, he yells at her because he doesn’t like her putting him before the Akuma, which was basically what it meant to him. He doesn’t get outwardly angry very often at all, and when it’s directed at Rinali, you know it’s something that upsets him greatly. When Komui revealed to Allen that Timcanpi had a recording device and he had seen parts of his past, he looked downright horrified, before smiling it off.
On the other hand, he has a serious side, which shines brightest in fights against Noah or Akuma, or when someone is in danger. It doesn’t matter who is in danger, he’ll try and save them; complete stranger, total asshole (Kanda), he’ll try his hardest to save their sorry ass.
However, all bets are off when he’s challenged to a game of poker, or when someone dares to mention the word ‘debt’ to him, as he will get very determined and downright evil trying to scam them out of their money.
Post sample: D-Debt… it’s not as steep as that of my master’s, but the strange population here doesn’t really give me a fair chance to cheat at their games. If only they’d play poker! Sometimes I think this must be some cruel game master came up with…
[he facepalms and sighs]
No… he wouldn’t be that indirect, he’d just hit me with a hammer instead of sending animals at me. Although Tom Nook reminds me of master in a way… Is it just me, or is keeping me in debt by building more things to my house a trap?
[he looks around him, staring at the trees and plants he’s grown and sighs once more, before a smile appears on his face]
At least I can grow my own food, so I don’t have to get hungry! I’m happy there’s so many fruits to still even my hunger, and have some left over for Timcanpi!
[lets out a chuckle as he moves to grab Timcanpi and pull on the sides of its mouth, stretching its face out]
