I've decided to experiment with having a blogspot blog about art and ideas and art that I see or read about that I like or don't like and why. It's talenasanders.blogspot.com and I'm calling it lumenlumen for now, since I am getting to the point of not having patience to look at art that isn't new media based. I'll see how long I keep up with it. Here's what I wrote there today:
On a day like today, even starting a blog seems like too much to ask of myself somehow. Back from Madrid and Lisbon yesterday, I can't quite figure out when I should be eating and sleeping and my body is a big mess. It's 10:40 PM and I want to sleep so bad it's amazing.
Today:
Taught my middle school digital art class. Two of my students had made their photoshop pieces in the first third of the class and were doing full up Flash animations the rest of class. By the time they're my age they will be developing software in their sleep.
Thought some more about moving up to Ontario for a few months to do a project, and did some research on corporate sponsorship for the upcoming Z collective projects. The LMCC is doing a workshop they're calling "BFA" which is about art career financial management, effectively. Guess who will be in attendance stoking their type A personality side, day runner in hand?
Checked this word art out and liked it on Rhizome, checked out some of "mikeyawesome"s other works, almost all seem silly and trendy at first, but there's a bit of depth and intelligence to (most of) them that I'm almost wishing wasn't there, because I don't want to like work made by a guy who thinks it's a good idea to call himself awesome all the time. Nonetheless, I think I do like it. Yeah, it's pretty decent.
