They had driven around the town, looking for any sign of a living creature and had come up empty pretty quickly. They had located a small library to use for research, a hunting shop to raid for weapons later, and had returned to the gas station to fill up the car and grab snacks.
Sam and the girls were inside gathering items as Dean stood near the edge of the road, cellphone to his ear.
"Bobby, he was a complete whackjob by the time we got here," he said into the phone. Bobby had been the first call he had made when they had stopped. "The guy ate his own gun, Bobby."
"And we're sure this is Samhain we're talkin' 'bout?" Bobby asked, grabbing books off his shelf.
"Anya seems to think so, and it seems to fit," he said as he glanced towards the shop where he could see the others moving around inside through the windows. "We're loading up on supplies before we go checking out things on foot. Figure we can start where the first kill happened."
He grunted a bit at the mention of Anya, still not putting his full faith in a girl who not only came back from the dead but was a demon in a former life. "I'll read up here, too. See what I can dig up. Cause if this is really the God of the Dead, Dean--"
"Yeah, I know," he sighed, running a hand through his hair. "We're royally screwed." He shrugged. "On the plus side? I've watched enough zombie movies as a kid to be ready for this," he joked.
"That ain't funny, boy," he grumbled. "Ya'll stick together. Let me know what you find out."
Dean nodded as he stared down the empty street, watching as leaves blew across the pavement. "Yeah, we'll be in touch. Thanks, Bobby." He hung up, shoving his phone into the pocket of his jacket. He stared at the empty street--the dead street--a moment longer before heading towards the shop to join the others.
Inside the shop, Buffy was currently loading Sam's arms with various types of chips and sweets--including a giant bag of Twizzlers--and he couldn't help but laugh a bit as she added another bag of cookies to the mix.
"You realize if we're the only people alive, we really don't have to worry about a food shortage, right?" he teased as he shifted the food in his arms before he dropped something.
