Why the sun persisted in shining when the attention was largely unwanted, Tsukishiro Yue could not say. He had never attempted to understand the brighter things in life, however; he was a creature of the moon, though not a vampire as some of his students presumed. Yue just didn't see the point in running outside and frolicking in dew-ridden grass, basking in harmful UV rays and frying his skin.
Hence why he was sitting in his classroom, chin propped up on one elegantly pale hand, staring broodily out the window.
Children were pouring through the gates, and some teachers were out there giving directions and greeting them. It had been suggested, none too subtly, that he get out there and to the same, and he had responded, none too subtly, in the negative. He didn't like sunshine; he didn't like crowds; he didn't like being told what to do.
Being alone suited him, and he would have precious little time for that once classes were in session. Idly, he glanced toward the only framed photograph on his desk, and his heart jumped painfully. A serene-looking man smiled back at him, resting a hand on the shoulder of a youth with a petulant grimace.
Sometimes, Yue wondered what he had ever thought was so terrible about his life those days. He'd had everything.
He looked away from the picture, into the sunshine that Clow would have enjoyed so much, and then sighed.
