I'll be honest - I may actually be better off as the outspoken curmudgeon than actually in charge of the place, but I figure it's worth a shot:
Allow me to introduce myself. I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't do drugs... I play videogames, which I think is far superior an addiction than any of those other ones. Yes, that is me, I am that much of a dork, I did get the quote right (the IMDB is subtly wrong), and Steve is awesome. Any other questions? If not, enough semi-ancient history and more on me - not one of my favorite topics, but so be it.
I am one of an apparently very small group of videogamers whose knowledge and appreciation of the field is all-expansive. From computer games to arcade titles to consoles to the indie market, I'm a pretty thorough videogaming encyclopedia. I'm the Dr. Gregory House of videogames: for years I answered the vast majority of "What was the name of this game" questions on the Twin Galaxies forums, as well as other places. I've volunteered with TG in the past (off and on, currently off), most recently as a Senior Referee as custodian of Xbox Live Arcade records... but am one of only two gamers to never miss the ACAM International Classic Video Game Tournament in its thirteen years (and have won the Name That Tune competition there twice in its four years), so I have the entire chronology of videogaming bookended.
One last personal tidbit, which actually has little to do with gaming but helps shatter one of the field's false stereotypes: I compose logic-based puzzles for the United States Puzzle Championships. Videogaming does NOT rot one's brain. Quite the opposite. I hope to someday publish games as well (and not just videogames!), should I ever get the resources to do so.
I have never been much of a newshound, but I have the experience to put it in perspective and attitude to make it shine. It's not just the diagnosis powers of House I bring to the field :) (And hey, none of that drug addiction crap.) I can't help but think a community named Oh No They Didn't Games is a perfect match for me. I would love to facilitate some friendly competitions and player networking to give the community a sense of, well, community. It would also be great to have some contests - not giveaways, as after all we're gamers and should be willing to earn our keep - on the likes of game trivia, game music, and of course actual play (I have personal experience running these sorts of things).
My campaigning platform (pun intentional), if I could be said to have one, would be all-encompassing cohesion - there are many different types of gamers and different types of games, and we can cater to them individually to be sure, but what I'll do is help manage that big umbrella we/they ALL fit under and bring us all together as videogamers.
I don't expect to win this thing, although it'd be epic if I did. Mind you, if I don't win, then whoever does had better be on top of their game, because if I catch them bulls#!tting I will call them on it :) - ZM
