Gamestop sells more dlc than Sony or Microsoft do. On their own networks. And it's not by a small percentage, either, it's sizable. You're not going to see the developers of hardware cut out used games altogether, I don't think. I agree with thus analyst.

This.

I'm not sure about worldwide but here in Australia, Gamestop/EB Games didn't stock the PSP Go for similar reasons, namely it went against their policies as customers couldn't return games because it was all downloads. I can honestly see them refusing to stock these consoles.

On reason they probably won't do it is that the ability to rent games, and therefore try them out, probably helps their sales, too. From an early age, my dad always made me rent a game at least twice before I bought it, and I continue to do that (for the most part) today.

It's saved me from some really shitty games but there are many more games that I might not have bought based on their boxes or what I've heard, until I actually played it myself. All of the Tales games come to mind. The first one I bought was Tales of Symphonia and that purchase would never have been made without renting it first.

Where does one rent games nowadays, out of curiosity? All the movie stores in my area are slowly but surely biting the dust.

There are a few mom & pop stores around me. I've used gamefly.com before and I think Blockbuster online still rents games.

Also, it turns out that I have several Blockbusters in my area. Not that I'll rent from them, but it's apparently an option lol

That was the biggest store in my area, but they've all shut down one after the other. :C

At the very least, they should hold off to see if Microsoft does it first and generates a ton of bad press/pissed off gamers. >.>
