the author of the article that there's a reason he (Orci) gets to write movies and he doesn't.Because Orci got lucky nothing more nothing less. Getting your script filmed by the major studios is not automatically an indicator of quality. Especially these days when Hollywood only cares about reusing old material to cash in on the nostalgia factor for an audience

I think the best screenwriting advice I ever saw was "the sale is the job". Let go of any expectation of ever seeing your script onscreen, because it just flat out ain't gonna happen. Even if the producer and director are lavishly committed to getting your words up there, it ain't gonna happen. There's always stuff that gets changed, the thing you love the most will get cut first, and no actor in the world is going to say those lines the way you had them in your head. The only thing you can do is see the sale as the job, and understand that after that, you are not a part of the process, nobody wants to talk to you, and you'll be lucky if you get a ticket to the premiere. Do it that way and everything you get aside from the money will be a very nice surprise, instead of everything you get being a scrap contemptuously thrown at you from the master's table.

And yeah, Orci has no fucking idea how lucky he is. That's the thing about Hollywood - it's so insular that people really do start believing they're the gods' gift to mankind just because they got their foot in the door and somebody decided to throw them some cash.
