I was there Wednesday through Sunday and I got to see one of Zach's panel! I also got to meet and greet WILLIAM SHATNER. (omg!) The trolley station signs were all in Klingon!
I got to smell the samples for the Trek-themed colognes. My favorite was Shirtless Kirk. :) I bought a science blue from the Roddenberry Dive Team. While I was contemplating whether or not to buy my brother a command gold, an older gentleman decked in science officer gear pointed at my tricorder and was like, samesies! He gushed at how awesome it is to see someone my age that's into Star Trek. I told him about my 15 year old brother and how he's hooked too.
I also sat through a panel called The Geek Report. It was about sci fi on TV and they mentioned ~the legacy of Star Trek~. It was interesting!
My 15 year old too cool for school brother WAS SHAKING. The closer we got, the more nervous he became and then I got more nervous so we were just vibrating with excitement.
It was...just...it was awesome. He and I kept high fiving each other all day over it.
I usually don't get nervous. Working in LA has kind of helped out on that but it was CAPTAIN KIRK and my brother and I think he's completely awesome.
The line for his signing was moving super fast but I was like, fuck it, I don't care. He was all smiles and asked me how I was doing and I was like HI I'M FINE HOW ARE YOU???? And he said he was doing well and I knew the line was supposed to just move along but I planted my feet because this could be my only chance so I thanked him for bringing my brother and I closer together and I pointed to my brother and he beamed and was like, aww that is such a nice story. Thank you for telling me.
And then my brother was like, YOU'RE AWESOME. And he laughed and thanked him.
It was super quick but I felt like he was genuinely happy to hear about it. My brother and I were ecstatic.
Dude, we were watching on the big screen while we were waiting and he was just BLAZING through the signing, like no big thang. It was insane. My brother was impressed in all things William Shatner that day.
