Milk and Bookies!!

A handful of members of Team JJ attended the Milk and Bookies Storytime Celebration in LA over the weekend. The philanthropic project, which encourages childhood readership, has been gaining momentum in recent years and is clearly a favorite event for Heroes stars and JJ entourage.

Spit out that gum, young man!

How does Grunny, a lovable dorkfish, have such a posh son? He's adorable!

JJ wants your Bad Romance.

BLIIIIND

That's Damon Lindelof, co-producer and writing contributor of Star Trek.

And now, for some vintage. ZQ attended another Milk and Bookies event way back in 2007.

...though he doesn't seem too happy to see the photogs. Necessary evil for philanthropic events like this, ZQ!

This is such a sweet project and I'm not just saying that because I worked at a library for 4 years! Here's my favorite blurb about the event.

Milk and Bookies Class Project Launches

Once upon a time, a nonprofit called Milk and Bookies threw festive bookstore parties around town, teaching young folks the value of philanthropy and literacy.

Moms and their kids would invite friends and classmates to a celebration where they would choose a book and inscribe it with a special message to a less fortunate child. Music, storytelling, and milk and cookies flowed freely.

Then one day, the grassroots organization said, “Hey, if we can do this here. Why not everywhere?”

And so the M+B Class Project was born. And parents spread the word to babysitters and friends near and far about how they could follow step-by-step instructions online for hosting events at a local bookstore. Soon budding humanitarians were learning to promote events, obtain donations, and create appropriate book lists.

Empowering everyone to live happily ever after.

This picture is so suspect. what did Damon say to JJ to get him to make that face? "Hey, JJ! I have the perfect idea! Let's make the next Trek film a musical! 8D"?
