BEIJING, Dec. 12 (AP) - (Kyodo)-World champion Daisuke Takahashi has refused to use a bruising collision with Takahiko Kozuka as an excuse for his lackluster showing at the Grand Prix Final
( Read more... )
"Kozuka accidentally clattered into Takahashi and sent him crashing to the ice during practice on Thursday and was on the verge of tears during Saturday's press conference, blaming himself for what he believed had damaged Takahashi's bid for glory."
Oh god I hope not. He already gets fucked by everybody and their mother and if this screws up the rest of his season he's gonna be in deeper shit. ;___;
I think what howell_jolly meant was that Taka is already underrated by the judges by being the third-ranked Japanese man--if he doesn't establish himself more as a top-rated skater, he'll likely be passed by hungrier younger Japanese men like Yuzuru Hanyu.
Ranking and reputation is everything when it comes to skating :(
Oh yeah :( It's so unfair, he's a good skater but he's always in the shadow of Daisuke and Oda. Not that I don't love them too, Taka is just my favourite and it's not fair he should lose out because he happens to be third-ranked in a really good generation of Japanese skaters.
And I was so hopeful for him this season, what with the doya-gao and everything, and now that collision might have ruined it :(
I think Taka would actually be one of those guys who wouldn't give his all or be so wrought with guilt that he couldn't/wouldn't perform well in the competition. I was so afraid he'd just eat it because of nerves and guilt, but I'm glad that he really fought during his LP.
It warms my heart though. Taka is such a beautiful person :)

Taka's been doing so well this season. ILHSFM but I have a slight bias towards Daisuke because he might be retiring soon. :(
