...REINFORCE THE IDEA THAT ALL SKATERS LOVE ADORABLE ANIMALS AND WANT TO HAVE A WHOLE ZOO IN THEIR HOUSE!

Hi, BBs. Have you missed my awesome translating prowess? Well, I'm back to practicing my Russian skills and I have one of V/T's blog entries translated. Enjoy!

Hello, dear readers! Thank you for your comments and questions. We're very happy that you're visiting this website about our lives. Today we'll tell you about what we do in our spare time (the life of an athelete is not only traning), and also we'll answer some of your questions.

Maxim: Even off the ice, we are together all the time. We go to the movies, theatres, cafes, and restaurants. We recently had a reason to go. On Saturday, Tanya received a Russian passport. And we went to celebrate this in a Japanese restaurant.

Tanya: Well, Max prefers Italian cuisine...

Maxim: Yes. But the ladies like sushi and I have to accompany them.

Tanya: By the way, since I'm now a Russian citizen, I think it's appropriate to answer Flatch's question: "Which language do you think of as your native language - Russian or Ukranian? And how hard was it to speak in Ukranian?"

Russian. I have a Russian-speaking family. My mom and dad were born in Russia. My Mother in Kaliningrad and my father in Nizhny Tagil.

Maxim: When we filled out the necessary documents for obtaining a passport, we made some mistakes, as it turns out. We needed to write that she is a citizen of the Ukraine but that her nationality is Russian, however, we wrote that she's Ukranian.

Tanya: My Ukranian isn't bad. It's not perfect, of course (It's unlikely that I could work as an annoucer on television), but I understand everything.

Maxim: We also both love musicals. In the summer we went to see "Monte Cristo" at the Moscow Operetta, and more recently - "Zorro" in MDM.

Tanya: They are, of course, totally different and difficult to compare, but I'm like "Monte Cristo" more.

Maxim: Me too. The staging and the musical side of this musical is stronger. In the "Zorro" used old Spanish songs, which everyone's heard before. "Monte Cristo" seemed more fresh.

Tanya: I expected more songs from "Zorro", but there was more talking. However, Nona Grishaeva performed in it.

Maxim: I think she holds the whole show together. About movies: Me and Tanya like different movies. We can go to a movie theater the same time, but to different movies.

Tanya: By the way, I haven't gone to see a movie in a long time.

Maxim: The last movie I saw was "Harry Potter". I liked it. Many say that this movie is worse than previous ones, but I watched all the previous movies on video so I can't judge. Also, we love to walk in Moscow.

Tanya: I love the center. I like Red Square, Tverskaya...

Maxim: And I really like that in Moscow, there are many churches. You can be virtually anywhere in the city and go out to find some church celebration and hear bells ringing. In St. Petersburg this doesn't happen. I was charmed by the ancient monasteries of Moscow. Often, I walk with my brother, who lives in Moscow, and with my girlfriend.

By the way, ponpon asks: "Tanya has a husband, but is there someone in Maxim life?"

I've been dating a girl for a while now. Her name is Alexandra. She's from St. Petersburg, but moved here to Moscow with me. We met when we were 15 and we started dating at 16.

She's a performer in an ice circus and an aerialist. We met at a training camp near St. Petersburg. Their theatre had a figure skating coach who brought them to our training camp, where they worked on general physical fitness and even participated in some children's competitions.

Tanya: I made friends with Sasha. And both Stas and I, and her and Max have a dog. Sometimes they walk together. My dwarf Pomeranian puppy is named Dexter. He's lived with us for six months.

Maxim: The same amount of time we've trained together.

Tanya: Max picked him out for me.

Maxim:
At first I thought we should get a girl yorkie because I have a Yorkshire terrier, and I wanted to ensure he had a wife. But Tanya does not like Yorkies. Then I said to her: take a Pomeranian.

Tanya: Stas wanted a bigger dog. It was love at first sight with Dexter. We left my dog, Finch, in the Ukraine with my parents. His ears are funny - very fuzzy. He has forgotten me altogether alreadt. I really miss him.

Maxim: My dog's name is Michael. He was called that in his pedigree and we decided not to come up with a different name for him. At a time I got him, Michael Jackson had died, plus my favorite athlete - Michael Jordan. So my yorkie has a highly symbolic name.

Tanya: And Max also has a cat!

Maxim: Yes, the St. Petersburg Sphinx Yasha. I do have a lot of animals. Sasha left a ferret and a rat in St. Petersburg with her parents.

Tanya: Michael is Dexter's first friend.

Maxim: Our dogs are childhood friends. They traveled together to Novogorsk and had good fun together. And now, when Michael sees Tanya's dog he flies across the yard toward him. And if he doesn't see him, he always comes up to his porch, sits there, and waitS: Will his friend be out for a walk?

Tanya: And finally, many commenters here were wondering: "Are the costume you wore in the last competions the final version of the costumes for the free?"

Maxim: We think so. We read many reviews of the and there seem to be more people who like our costumes than those who don't. Besides, we like them. We think that they're very original. they say that Tanya's dress is not feminine enough, but it's not like that's what we were trying to do. We took on a very complicated theme and and we think that the costumes should reflect that.

They should reflect the Shakespearean era.
If we look at the music - we're not just using "Romeo and Juliet", but also "Dance of the Knights". The costumes have both a lyrical side and a serious side. We believe the costumes are very accurate. And I like how Tanya looks in her dress.

Tanya: When we saw the sketches, I immediately liked Maxim's costume, but my dress I didn't like as much. But we talked to a seamstress, she changed some details, removed some things. I liked the final version. I'm also in love with with the colors.

Maxim: One more question about the costumes from naturproduk: "Maxim, is it true that you designed and drew the the short program costumes yourselves?"

That's not true. However, I like everything related to fashion design, and I even helped design costumes for a number of competitive pairs. But more about that in our next entry!

Tanya: In the next blog we will try to answer most of your questions, our dear readers. No question will remain unanswered!
