I get a sense that they want him to compete to sell tickets for them, but they also don't want him to compete because they want to push their own "favorites". (I could insert a million expletives here, but there's almost no point anymore by now.)

As for the Russian Fed...I honestly don't understand. Shouldn't Piseev be in jail already, or something?

+1 this comment.

and, I would very much like to know more about Piseev and imprisonment? (I fall out of the loop recently, the last thing I heard about him is he (or is it his wife?) is in control of the money of the fed?

He's in charge of the Federation's money as its director and his wife is in the ISU's central committee (if I remember the name of that organization correctly)...
BTW, the Procuracy of the Russian Federation recently launched an investigation on the spending of the budget money by sports federations before the Olys.

Oh, thank you very much. I'm only vaguely remember worried sick about how much power this couple have in their hands.

And about the money issue, I believe it's the result of Medvedev's statement after the Olympic (about how sport Federations are not to be credited for any achievement Russian team made during the Olys)+ Plushy complain? But I'd assume that they would investigate whoever was in charge of the budget handling before Piseev for this one. Hmm (Not that he isn't deserved to be questioned, as the ex-Head and all. Ugh, too much politic.

Yes, it's all about politics, too much of that stuff to handle. :-/
There were tons of complains about where the money went, there was a big fuss about that in the press. I hope something will come out of this, like Piseev at least be kicked out from the Fed.

LOL, sorry, I don't mean there's any news about Piseev going to jail (alas, I would love it dearly). I just meant that from what I heard about the way he's been operating (for 18 years), he really SHOULD be, and probably would be had it been many other countries of the world.
