THIS IS AN ARTUR GACHINSKI ~INTRO~ POST

Artur is 16, and turning 17 this summer. He used to compete under the surname of Хиль (Khil or Hill), now goes by Gachinski (Гачинский), and the ISU still hasn’t decided on how to romanize it.

Sauces: here and here.

Medal Record

Artur was born in Moscow but now lives in Saint Petersburg. His coach is Alexei Mishin, whom you may know as the coach of this BAMF:

Evgeni is his figure skating idol, and Artur has performed in Evgeni’s shows for quite some time. Here’s one of his programs:

Golden Ice of Stradivarius 2007 - BB Artur is Elvis!! (yeah, I know, the quality sucks)

This is much better quality - you can actually see what he’s doing, but there’s no sound. =(

A (very) small selection of pictures from this past season

He placed sixth at the Junior Grand Prix Final this year. At Junior Worlds he placed THIRD, behind Yuzuru Hanyu (JPN) and Nan Song (CHN).

Check out the wording on this article:

Skating last to “Narcissus - Whispers from the Mirror”, Gachinski popped his planned opening quadruple toeloop into a double, but then went on as if nothing had happened and nailed two triple Axels, five more triple jumps and two level-four spins. The 16-year-old posted 133.99 points (69.79/64.20), a new personal best score, and with 199.19 points overall took the bronze in his debut at Junior Worlds.

“The quad didn’t work out, but all the other elements were good and I am satisfied”, Gachinski told the press. “Maybe there wasn’t enough preparation for the quad as this was the first time for me to try it in competition. Maybe I wasn’t ready for it, but I felt confident. I’ll work on it for the future.”

THAT’S RIGHT. THIS BOY HAD A QUAD PLANNED AND WHEN IT DIDN’T HAPPEN, HE PLAYED IT COOL AND STILL WENT FROM SIXTH TO THIRD!!!

So what’s he up to in the future?

Well, he’s skating seniors this year, so he’ll be at Cup of Russia where he faces off against the Junior World Champion Yuzuru Hanyu.

“Buuu. I want to see Artur but I’m on the wrong continent for CoR!” Fear not! He is also appearing at Skate Canada in his FIRST Senior Grand Prix Event ever so you’ll still have chance to come out and show your support!

Lastly, need more pictures? There’s a post about him here with more pictures than I could ever hope to accumulate with my google-fu.

I'm also going to sleep soon so if I don't reply to comments for like, 12 hours, that's why - it's not that I'm ignoring anyone.
