I think because of the gerfuffle with La Strada not working out last year, MC are being uber-cautious about announcing their music this year. I think they're waiting until they know their program is really solid in order to avoid any embarrassing "Oops, we changed our minds" situations.
I'm really glad they're not using Sinatra after all--not that that's a horrible choice, but it's kind of blah, and I think MC are capable of doing something much more powerful and dramatic. Really, I'd rather see them do something like Pirates of the Caribbean--as overused as the music is, at least it has some sweep and power to it.
That was my feeling. I thought maybe after Champs Camp they'd feel ready to reveal it but, alas, guess not! Hopefully there weren't any problems.
Sinatra didn't do it for me, either. I loved their Beyond the Sea exhibition but that was an exhibition so, y'know. I definitely want power and drama from them again. I've missed it!
I'm assuming they have some details to iron out after Champs Camp before they go public with their music. They're being almost hilariously hush-hush about it. They did say in an interview it's something they've thought about for a while, so hopefully it's music they love and connect to.
Rumor is rife that VM are skating to Carmen this year, so I want MC to have something equally powerful. : ) Sinatra would just not have done it. I think a Sinatra program for MC would be a lot like FF was for VM--something technically proficient but kind of soulless.
My ultimate fantasy program for MC would be the music to the TV series The Tudors, mainly because I think Meryl would make an exquisite Anne Boleyn. ; D

(Perhaps Team Balls lost points for an overdose of fierce and fabulous? Meryl *and* Johnny on one team does seem a bit unfair...)
