Yagudin's "Gladiator". Unsheathe your swords!
My all-time favourite of all his Long Programmes, Alexei's "Gladiator" received the judges' thumbs-down at the 2001 Europeans, GP Final and Worlds.
Which makes me love this even more.
Here's the second performance of the season, at the 2000 Skate Canada. Brings the Colisseum down, after the defeat at Skate America.
The 2001 GP Final Exhibition. Silver medal, fierce performance, daggers and a pimp hat.:)
The 2001 Worlds, Qualification Round. An abscess on his right foot, local painkiller shots and Technical Marks ranging from 5.0 to 5.4. :( He ranks fifth in his qualification group.
(Then he fights back with an outstanding performance of his short programme, the Revolutionary Etude, and completes his comeback in the Free Skate. Plushenko deservedly won the gold. Alexei fought for something else.)

Hilarious beginning and a commentator who, I suppose, can't tell a triple Axel and a spread-eagle apart. And tremendous ice-rolling. With added oomph. (And unf!)
The 2002 Worlds Qualification Round.
The fresh Olympic champion finally gives Caesar his due with this performance.
The 2007 Stars on Ice show.
Practice run-through in an overcrowded rink.
I can't identify the skater in blue, but I love what she does.
Also, LOL. Yags pulling blood-stained swords out of defeated enemies while wearing the most baffling pair of long shorts in existence.
The 2007 Japan Open competitive programme.
No quads, no triple Axel. The judges ranked him fifth, but the audience thought differently.
I didn't include all the versions available, but gave in to personal preference. If you have others, please share.

I've been thinking of suggesting a Yags watchpost, including some new(ish) stuff, more Ice Age programmes, obscure performances. I've got the ideas - and the links :) - but not the technical abilities to do it. And I don't know of how much interest it would be, since this comm has already had two Yags watchposts.
Any thougts?
