Some Skating Club of Boston members performed show programs tonight at a small outdoor rink located smack in the heart of Boston Commons called Frog Pond. Here's a small, fluffy picspam of some performances.
My usual skating bros
eachpeach,
yodante and
buranko were all busy tonight so I persuaded my 8 year old son, AJ, to come with me, promising that he could choose the music for the car ride. Because AJ loves the ontd_skating mix that
misslauraj gave me, this meant we listened to "What Would Brian Boitano Do" the entire 40 minutes into Boston.
As we approached the skating rink the first thing we saw was Ross Miner and Simon Shnapir. I called out "Ross" and he turned around, while Simon dashed away really quickly (lol). I introduced myself but he recognized me from Skate Canada as "one of those Evening With Champions" people who screamed for him #SCREECHOWLS FTW.
I introduced Ross to AJ, and said "This is Mr. Miner" but Ross said "Ross"!! and let me take a picture.
Also at the rink was the mascot of Frog Pond who may or may not be called "Frog Pond Freddy". AJ backed away slowly from the giant amphibian, but I took a quick picture.
There were some really cute younger SCOB skaters that performed Christmas-y numbers:
And the SCOB synchornized skating team, Team Excel

Jessica Lin performed beautifully...
...and the pairs team of Chloe Bautista and Tyler Harris
I kept getting distracted though by Ross, Marissa and Simon standing and watching the show from 20 feet away so finally I took a creeper shot:
Finally Marissa and Simon performed and they were fabulous, especially Marissa.
LOOK HOW LOVELY HER FACE IS
It was really hard taking photos because it was so dark out, but these two spotlights were blinding when they shone at us.
SORRY I HAD TO INCLUDE THIS ONE BECAUSE LOL MARISSA :D
This last lift was a real crowd please. Simon held Marissa above his head for such a long time, then he spun her around really fast with only one hand holding her up. The crowd loved it!
Ross was the last before the finale. He performed to a cover of Elton John's "Your Song", which I think he did at either Ice Chips or EWC. It was tricky to jump on the small rink, and the ice had some soft parts to it, but he did a great job.
HYDROPLANING #LIKEABOSS !!!
THIS PHOTO IS FOR MY YOUNG FRIENDS WHO ENJOY ROSS'S BACKSIDE
Ross's famous cantilever:
Jumping on the small rink:
AJ's likes this photo because Ross's shadow "looks like an alien with a big butt"
Then there was a short finale and the show was over. Anyone could pay a few dollars and skate at the rink, but AJ was tired so we took a photograph of him with the green Frog Pond ZAMBONI...
...and he put on his bunny hat with the bunny paw mittens. I did buy him a flashing light toy because he was a good companion.
AND THEN WE LISTENED TO BARBIE GIRL THE WHOLE WAY HOME
