Not sure if anyone else is interested at all, but the new (third) season of the CBC show Battle of the Blades starts TONIGHT!
Like I said, Battle of the Blades is a Canadian TV show that matches figure skaters with NHL hockey players. This season sees 7 teams of figure skaters and hockey players battling it out!
So... Who is competing this season? Well, there's a twist! The first time BOTB has had a female hockey player!
The hockey players:
Tessa Bonhomme: member of Canada's Olympic Gold-Medal winning hockey team in 2010, medal winner at the world championships
Bryan Berard: former NHL-er having played for 6 teams
Brad May: former NHL player with the Toronto, Vancouver and Anaheim. Won the Stanley Cup in 2008 with Anaheim
Boyd Devereaux: former NHL-er with 4 teams, one Stanley cup, and a World Junior Championships gold medal under his belt
Curtis Leschyshyn: Stanley Cup with the Colorado in 1996, and played with Quebec and Ottawa for the other parts of his career
Cale Hulse: former NHL player with Calgary, New Jersey, Nashville, Phoenix and Columbus
Todd Simpson: former defenseman playing for 7 teams though his carreer
The figure skaters (I only included discriptions for the skaters that I didn't know, I think most of the others are fairly well known, at least in Canada):
David Pelletier
Elena Berezhnaya
Tanith Belbin
Marie-France Dubreuil
Anabelle Langlois
Violetta Afanasieva: Russian Circus skater, won the first-ever Extreme Ice Skating World Championships
Kim Navarro: US World Team member and two-time US Ice Dance bronze medalist
Marcey Hinzmann-Harris: US World and Olympic team member, two-time US Pairs medalist
Source You might notice that there's an uneven number of hockey players to figure skaters. Wade Belak was supposed to be competing as well, however, a few weeks ago he passed away in Toronto.
Not sure if mods will allow it or if any of you want it... would anyone be interested in a weekly BOTB post after the results show recapping the week?
PS - Sorry about the shitty editing guys, I'm still getting used to the new RTE -.-'
