The union is very fresh. Jessica Dube and Sebastian Wolfe have only been skating together for two months. But already, they are turning heads.
"The qualities that have struck me already is their power and their lines," said their coach, Annie Barabe. "Already, the lines are the same. It gives off a great look on the ice, it will be their strong point. "
They only discovered the potential they had skating together by chance. Dube requested assistance from Wolfe to keep in shape whilst her partner Bryce Davidson was injured. After just a few sessions together, the chemistry had grown so rapidly that Wolfe put his retirement plans on ice.
"I said I could wait three more years before becoming a firefighter," says Wolfe. "I've spent my entire life working for this, you only get one shot at it."
In three weeks, the new couple will start working on their new programs.
"We'll go with something completely different, I do not want to do something like Love Story again" said Barabe
"We'll go with something more modern, contemporary, something new," said Dubé for her part.
A colossal task awaits the couple. They are looking to the Olympic Games in Sochi in three years. Dube & Wolfe must build up the understanding she had developed with Davison, with whom she won the bronze medal at the 2008 World Championships.
"I never skated with someone else before, so at first I was a little skeptical," says Dubé. But I was surprised, I did not expect it to be that good. The confidence came super fast. And I'm really not afraid, I give him my full confidence. "
Dubé and Wolfe hope to skate for the first time before the Canadian judges at the Quebec Championships in August. After this first test they will decide where to go next.
Video here I'm so excited for this couple, and it's so great to see Jessica moving on and looking so happy!!! BTW she needs her own tag!!
