EVAN DOES A LIVE CHAT
~HIGHLIGHTS UNDER THE CUT~
Evan and Rossalyn Summers, 1984 silver medalist did a live webchat earlier today, these are the best/worst/wtf moments:
Evan, which of your sexy black costumes is your favorite? I still love the Carmen one.
Stars on Ice: EL: Dear Guest, I believe my favorite of my black costumes is the one that I wore for my Olympic free skate, with the snake around my neck. In Chinese culture, snakes bring good luck and prosperity; it worked for me.
Stars on Ice: RS: By the way, Evan, I had a few sexy black costumes in my day. My favorite being Black Velvet.
For Evan - If you go into acting, who would you like to work with in the way of directors and other actors?
Stars on Ice: EL: Dear Shirley, one of the coolest experiences after winning the Olympics was meeting my favorite director, Quentin Tarrentino. I also love Baz Luhrmann and Wes Anderson. But mainly, I just love all film and would love to dabble in it.
Hi Evan :) I would like to ask- were there any personal demons you had to battle in order to be the skater you are today?
Stars on Ice: EL: Good question. Yes, I have battled obsession during my career and unfortunately, as you get closer to your goal, it only gets worse. The biggest adjustment for me has been re-entering normal life. But I still somehow miss the days of the masochistic training.
Evan, have you decided if you will be competing next season?
Stars on Ice: EL: I haven't decided because I haven't had a quiet moment to think about. I'm looking forward to that, possibly in June. But I appreciate all of the support from my fans and encouragement to return.
Hi Evan! Congrats on the Olympic gold medal. Did Dancing with the Stars inspire your tango exhibition routine?
EL: Actually, yes. It inspired me but also forced me to stretch my comfort zone to figure out what a male solo tango dance would actually look like. needs to think about that a bit more tbh
Roz, glad to see you here today! What is it that you miss most from being on tour? And what do you miss the least?
Stars on Ice: RS: Hi Scott. Nice to see you on the chat, thank you for all the sweet cards and notes you send me. I do miss parts of touring, mostly the camaraderie with my friends, the fun bus trips, and being out on the ice every night. (I don't miss hotel rooms.)
, what products you use to get that that fabulous tan?
EL: I have Greek and Italian blood, which makes my skin naturally dark, and I tan very easily. But I do enjoy working out outside in the sun. Running at the beach is where I get some of my best ideas.
Stars on Ice: RS: I have no tan, I live in Seattle. We rust. ;)
For Evan -How hard is it to adjust to all of the different size rinks?
Stars on Ice: EL: For me, it's very difficult to adjust to small rinks, because I'm very tall and I take up a lot of space. I get nervous that I'm going to land my jump in the audience's lap.
When were training for the Olympics what was your typical diet?
Stars on Ice: EL: I got very strict with my diet, in the seven to eight months leading up to Vancouver. I would eat 10 servings of fruit and vegetables a day, two eggs poached in the morning, a handful of raw almonds as one snack, and one muscle milk shake for lunch, and a light dinner with some protein. Sounds miserable but after the Olympics, when I could eat anything I wanted, I only craved fruit and vegetables and this diet.
Hello to you both! Evan, are you planning to take any of the excitement of NY Fashion Week this time around?
Stars on Ice: EL: I will, of course, be attending Vera Wang's show on Tuesday, Feb. 15. As for the rest of my week in New York, I am pretty much booked as an ambassador for RISE, which premiers nationwide on Feb. 17. And then eventually running back to KeyArena for Stars on Ice (Feb. 25).
what about not doing a quad and the changes in the system that encourage quads like more points- beating plushenko without a quad sent the message not to do quads and was technical regression and victory for being a chicken and not doing hard moves. You tried one at nationals why not at the olympics. It was the Olympics? Plushenko did two and takahashi tried one - why not you? you tried one a few weeks before??
Stars on Ice: EL: I think it's very interesting that the Europeans were at the forefront of battling for the increase of value with the quad, yet at 2011 Europeans, the winner did not do a quad. In fact, very few men still are doing them. My decision to not train a quad leading up to Vancouver was because my left foot was broken. It was not a strategic move, but a health risk. Just thought you'd like to know all the facts.
1:31 Stars on Ice: RS: Hey Casey, how's your quad coming along? y u mad tho?
Evan, do you ever think you would write a book?
Stars on Ice: EL: I would love to write a book. I think it would be a really healthy way for me to document my journey to Vancouver. But I would want the book to be very honest and touch on the struggle, the doubt, the loneliness, the obsession, and the sacrifice that I went through. Release date TBD.
Evan, how do you stay so down-to-earth?
Stars on Ice: RS: Evan has already left for the rink, but I can tell you, after spending the day with him, he is the most down-to-earth, funny, and personable person and champion. He was nice to every single person that approached him today. It's real, not fake. Even though I'm married, I now have a little bit of an Evan crush. ;)
Do you think everyone who comes in contact with Evan falls in love with him a little? Many of us have that particular affliction. ;-)
Stars on Ice: RS: Yes, and for good reason, because he is as sweet as he seems! GUUUUURL
