Spot The Space Station

Nov 07, 2012 19:45

A few days ago, NASA launched a new service--"spot the space station".  If you sign up on the website, they'll send you a text or email whenever the International Space Station is due to fly over your head.

It's very easy to spot if you know what you're looking for--at dawn or dusk, it's typically the brightest object in the sky aside from the Moon.  You just have to be lucky enough to be looking up at the right time.  Now, NASA will be kind enough to alert you every time that time happens in your area.

NASA's Johnson Space Center will calculate the sighting information several times a week for more than 4,600 locations worldwide.
