Possible Breakthrough in Developing HIV Vaccine

Scientists say they have found a way to disarm the AIDS virus in
research that could lead to a vaccine.  Researchers have discovered that
if they eliminate a cholesterol membrane surrounding the virus, HIV
cannot disrupt communication among disease-fighting cells and the immune
system returns to normal.

Interesting. This was my field, way back in the early 90's biotech explosion, and I spent some time doing early work with AIDS when we thought that a vaccine was just around the corner and half a hundred start-ups were frantically trying to be first in line. This sounds like an interesting new tack and I hope it survives the long road from the in vitro to in vivo with its promise intact.

Me too, I didn't get a chance to look up the journal article, but this sounded different than anything I'd read before, would be interesting to see how this pans out =3
