52-year-old Brenda Charett Jensen of Modesto, California, whose airways were blocked due to surgery complications, is the happy recipient of a pioneering larynx transplant which has successfully managed to restore her voice after 11 years of silence. “It is a miracle,” Jensen is quoted as saying. “I’m talking, talking, talking, which just amazes my family and friends.”
The operation, which latest 18 hours, took place at the Medical Center of the University of California last October, but was first announced Thursday.
