My girlfriend's first response to seeing this article was "but where will Ford Prefect come from?!" :3

It's always been my theory that Ford is a hitchhiker because Betelgeuse went supernova. After all, when he talks to Hotblack at Milliways, he says that they were on New Betel.

Because that's where all the Betelgeusians relocated, naturally.

But, that's totally why he and Zaphod just totally don't care about anything, and have no empathy toward blown up planets. Their entire star system is gone, man!

I spend too much time in a particular fandom to keep lots of other sci-fi icons, which is a shame, but when I has disposable monies, perhaps I'll buy more iconspace.
