Flashback: Best of Season Seven

Mar 26, 2014 01:17

So, even though the continuity of the musical is in season 7, I decided to give it its own post on Friday. So what are your favorite episodes from last year?

7x01 Santabarbaratown 2
Thank god Henry's alive!! And vengeful!Shawn was interesting to see. And lest we not forget, viva la Cranberry! I loved the Cranberry, though neither car is most practical when tailing people. Anyway, even though Henry didn't die I think this was definitely the moment that shifted Psych into a more mature, sometimes more subdued, tone.

7x03 Lassie Jerky
In an episode where you wonder how James Roday managed to go from Point A to Point Z (the end), it actually works. The climax shootout/fight scene in the end was great, and also Ed! Ed is jsut so cool.

7x04 No Country for Two Old Men
One of the standouts from the season, I loved this Henry-centric episode. Jeffrey Tambor is fantastic as Juliet's stepfather, Llyod French, and I thinkd one of the funniest scenes is when Shawn and Gus are trying to dig their own graves and failing spectacularly

7x05 100 Clues
This episode was truthfully, really confusing to me. I probably need to rewatch it, but there were definitely lots of small moments in the episode that were quality. I think though that I was just disappointed because the original Clue movie was so great and I thought it would be a bit more campy...and it was also hard to keep track of the characters. But at the end of the day, this episode just deserves to be in the list because it's the 100th episode. Most shows don't get so lucky.

7x06 Cirque Du Soul
A lot of things happened in this episode, which you'd think would be chaotic but this episode pulls of all the storylines really well without sacrificing the intrigue of the mystery. Most importantly, Shawn and Gus get into a fight! But at the end of the day, they're there for each other. Also, when Shawn pretends to be a random exterminator...a classic, great, hilarious scene.

7x07 Deez Nups
Well no TV wedding goes off without a hitch, and this episode was loads of fun (seriously, don't show up to a police officer's wedding with a bunch of guns and thing you can win a shootout). Personally, I wish Big Wendy could get her own show and well, McNab can come give me a lap dance any day. But of course, the kicker of this episode happens at the end when Juliet finally finds out Shawn's secret and slaps him (with Gus accidentally seeing, of course).

7x08 Right Turn or Left for Dead
Psych has had a lot of great episodes. This isn't my favorite, but I think it's one of the most brilliant episodes Psych has ever done. I never saw Sliding Doors, but the two timelines really played with my emotions, and when they finally came together, you just know that Shawn and Juliet's relationship isn't going to ever be the same, it can never go back. And if you don't mind my ranting a bit here, I thought the choice of mystery was really well-done: Elin is a disturbed young woman who chooses to blame everything that's happened to her on her father's abandonment, sort of like a butterfly effect. You see Shawn's mind envision the butterfly effect of what would have happened if Juliet never found that ticket in his jacket. It's when he comes to the conclusion that Elin is Corey's killer no matter what timeline he's in that the timelines come together. Basically, Shawn can envision whatever scenario about him and Jules but at the end of the day he can really only blame himself- paralleling his realization about Elin.

7x11 Office Space
Taking a break from the Shules drama, this episode is classic Shawn and Gus hijinks and probably the funniest of the season.

7x13 Nip and Suck It
Lori Laughlin!!! Aunt Becky is still beautiful. We got a great episode of Henry and Shawn banter too, and the mystery was really great.

7x14 No Trout About It
Well, Trout sucks. But the retelling of the story and "You said it was cake mix!" and Lassie choking Shawn will never not be great. It's always the little moments that get me and make episodes memorable.
