Deep, calming breaths. Sooooo it's Monday. And I gotta say I've been watching a lot of Psych over the past week as research (some eps confirmed my love of them, some eps confirmed that I was less than enthused), though since I'm student I haven't been able to full on marathon the series on Netflix. I mean, I'm no stranger to loving canceled shows and I'm getting flashbacks to remembering when I watched the last episode of Monk but yeah...it's also been a rough week because I fell in love with Psych all over again.
Season 5 aired during a particularly rough time in my life, and really the only thing that kept me going was watching TV and really, just being distracted. Psych, along with other shows, helped me tremendously during that time and I'll always be grateful for that. What are your favorite episodes from Season 5?
5x01 Romeo and Juliet and Juliet
Ken!!!!!!! That is all.
5x02 Feet Don't Kill Me Now
Gus. Lassiter. Tap dancing. Go watch this episode.
5x04 Chivalry Is Not Dead...But Someone Is
You have seven days to write me a thank you note for recommending this episode....but it should be sooner
5x07 Ferry Tale
The best parts of this episode come from Crayg and his banter with Shawn
5x09 One, Maybe Two, Ways Out
Even in the light of serious international espionage and betrayal, Psych manages to keep it appropriately light
5x10 Extradition II: The Actual Extradition Part
You know the episode is going to be good when it kicks off with Despereaux popping up as Shawn and Gus are arguing over Ashlee Simpson. Or maybe not. This was a near-perfect episode except I still never understood why Shawn, Gus, and Despereaux didn't just escape in the car.
I've also always wanted to tell someone "You're very nice...for a slut" just for fun
5x13 We'd Like to Thank the Academy
Oh sweet Buzz McNab, you are the best. This was the best sort of cracktastic riffs on a classic police story, and I wish Ralph Macchio were in more things (despite actually never seeing the Karate Kid, sorry), he has really great comedic timing.
5x14 The Polarizing Express
Yes, the "It's a Wonderful Life" episodes have been done to death. But this is actually a really fun spin on that format, and it was especially fun to see Kirsten Nelson, who usually plays the straight character, really camp it up as Frau Vick. Not to mention fabulous Farrah Fawcett Jules and young Shawn (with a wink to the audience about the recast)...but this episode ends on a really sweet note with Shawn at his dad's place (albeit eating gross cookies). My favroite part about this episode though is that it really highlights how Shawn really cares for people and isn't really as selfish as he may appear. I mean, the series is about how he uses his ~psychic ability for good but this ep just showed some great personal growth and a reminder that it really is about helping people.
5x15 Dead Bear Walking
April Bowlry (otherwise known as Stacy from Drop Dead Diva) guest stars as Lauren Lassiter, who I wish would have made a return because her relationship with Lassie was another side to the detective we haven't seen before. Some of the best moments come from the first half of the episode but overall pretty solid.
5x16 Yang 3 in 2D
Okay, I mean I guess a plothole would be why Shawn never remembered Yang but I guess he's only hyper observant and doesn't have an eidetic memory. Still. Anyway, this was a a fitting end to the Yin/Yang trilogy, the perfect kind of conclusion. We found out who Yin was, and Juliet got to kick ass this time around. Not that we ever doubted her, of course.
