HEEEYYYYYY ontd_political. What's up?
First, I want to say "Welcome!" to all of our 13,000+ members, you are all awesome, amazing, and attractive (I wanted to continue the alliteration, and it's true, natch.). We're happy to have all these new members, we look forward to the diversity of thought, and spirited opinions that are sure to come. We're watching the membership queue, so if you've been lurking now is the time to join if you want to participate in the live posts and not get shut out the day of.
Secondly, the USA has this election going on ... you've probably never heard of it, it's an underground thing, and we knew about it before it was popular. We've been having live posts for the Conventions, and now we have the PRESIDENTIAL DEBATES coming up. If you track the !live post tag, you will get an e-mail when the live post is put up. Here are the debate dates (lol, funny words) for you to put in your calendar:
First presidential debate:

Thirdly, if you happen to live near these locations, we'd like to encourage you to attend the debate and take photographs! We'd love to have some first hand accounts about what it is like actually /at/ the debates.

Fifthly, Election Day, USA is NOVEMBER 6th. ontd_political will, of course, have the best coverage NBC and CNN can buy. :D We'll have live posts all day and we encourage everyone to exercise their right to vote.
Sixthly, I think we've got this election covered, but if there is anything else you'd like to see (more live posts, info posts on election issues, naked pictures of President Oba -- sry, those are private) just let us know. This is an open post for you to tell us what you want to see in the next 2 months.
