As a resident of TN, my presidential vote feels largely symbolic since I am a very liberal person in a very conservative state. I think a return to using the popular vote to determine who wins the presidency would make people who don't bother voting in states that are always blue or always red to actually vote.
Or the opposite I suppose. Last election, my county was the only county in my state that went for Obama/Biden. Imagine how many more might have turned out to vote if they knew it would have counted for something.
I have a lot of issues with some of the things the founding fathers did, but I give them a pass here. How could they know how large the U.S. would become? How could they know how technology would change? How could they know that all adults would attain the right to vote, rather than just rich, white, men? (That, of course, is one thing they deserve TONS of blame for).
Maybe I do blame them...I don't know...they all just rub me the wrong way. They weren't all that perfect...you know?
