soooooo is this some kind of subtle thing going on here where the school is trying to passive-aggressively pressure the parents of this kid to enroll him in a school elsewhere because he's deaf and they don't want to deal with it, or is there something else going on here? because the argument that the kids name hand sign is too similar to a gun and violates their anti-gun policy is just too fucking ridiculous for real life, tbh.

I would not doubt it. My parents are both special-ed teachers and I have heard some horrifying stories about school districts trying to get rid of their special-ed kids.
