GINGRICH: We have no proof today, but I would say to you under Obama’s ideology it is absolutely true that he would be comfortable sending a lot of people checks for doing nothing. I believe that totally.

Yes. That's what you're SUPPOSED to do when YOUR economy is not providing them with jobs. They are not doing nothing, they are living and eating and breathing and metabolizing and growing and learning and doing it all while BEING HUMAN PEOPLE and YES, they deserve access to enough assistance to survive and hopefully thrive on when they have no real options for earning as much themselves.

The real unemployment rate is 10% or more, which means there is obviously no shortage of labor required to DO all the work that's necessary to keep the country running; if you're so damn annoyed that some people might get to survive without doing some of that work that already needs doing, then figure out how to make employers split the work between more employees. If there's professions highly in need of skilled workers, figure out a way to pay for those skills to be trained so that people don't have to shell out big money or go into debt trying to get that training.

But fucking ENABLE them to work jobs that pay enough to be worth working. Quit using welfare or lack of welfare as a stick to push people into the sort of shit jobs that have no business existing at their current pay scale and conditions.
