Wait so it says they do this for children with facial deformities, what were hers? Because I can't really tell from the before pic that's there

She doesn't have any. I saw a piece on this on CNN this morning. From what I could tell (didn't have my coffee yet), she was made fun of for having a large nose. When the surgeon starting talking about "fixing" her ears and chin, I had to change the channel, tbh.

Her ears aren't even deformed. They stick out a little, but so do a lot of people's.

Well I guess the bullies didn't care it was enough to prompt her to have surgery

I read the post and it said her ears stuck out, but in the before picture they look normal, nothing that would be called deformed

I was a bit thrown also because there really wasn't anything noticeable about her ears before that I could see. It seems that standards of beauty are becoming even more impossible if someones ears sticking out a tiny bit is now enough to qualify as a "facial deformity"

While I agree that it's ridiculous, "pinning back" ears (a procedure called otoplasty) that stick out have been done for small children for decades.

It's unfortunate that it's needed to be done at all, since I can't think of too many circumstances in which they pose any real problems, but there you go...

I was asking because it said they do it for deformities, and then went on to never say any deformity she had, saying "Read the article" when the article never gives an answer isn't really an answer
