He's a fucking COUNTY SHERIFF. He has, like, NO authority anywhere else in the state, does he? WTF? Is he setting himself up to run for the tea party national leadership or something?
And seriosuly, birthers, at this point you're not just accusing Obama of fraud, but the entire state of Hawaii and the Federal Election Commission.
And they probably think it shouldn't count because it's full of brown people anyway. And the FEC is, of course, Big Government and therefore the enemy, so long as it's being anything other than useful to them.
I think he's setting himself up as God, at least as far as the local prison system and immigration people are concerned.
That, and he's a sociopathic sadist; attacking Obama gets him adoration from the right and interferes with the left, thus entrenching the sort of power structure status quo that gives him his little fiefdom without too much inconvenient oversight.
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office has been under investigation-- justifiably so-- from the Department of Justice. People have died in MC jails that shouldn't have. They have been denied medication they should get. Arpaio uses the MCSO to intimidate and silence his critics, or on these high-profile "Illegal" sweeps that don't do a damn thing except get the crackers in this state to vote for him. I don't know how long this will last, but people keep falling for this shit year after year.
This looks like a wild, flailing distraction, or a way to stir up state/federal antagonism that the secessionists in Arizona thrive on: How dare the Feds come and harass our Poor Sheriff from doing his job? Oh look, the man they view as the Godhead of the Feds, Obama, the Sheriff has something on him! It all makes sense now! And Arpaio gets elected again. I am glad he can't live forever, because I have a feeling when he drops, they're going to find a closet made of skeletons at the MCSO. Either that or he has plans for his successors. But since
