There was a guy who stood a chance of defeating Arpaio in 2008, Dan Saban. Arpaio and his friends smeared the hell out him.

I live in Phoenix-- or one of the megolopolis's suburbs-- and yearn for Arpaio's departure. Personally, I want the whole structure to collapse, but he may have a successor planned. I just don't think such megalomaniac would even consider losing.
